Villa Teras is nestled in a beautiful tranquil location on the outskirts of Ubud. If you're looking for culture, comfort, nature and inspiration, Ubud is arguably the best place to use as a base if you're visiting Bali. It is surrounded by most of the things that bring people to Bali -- scenic rice fields, small villages, art and craft communities, ancient temples, palaces, rivers and it's central location makes it easy to get from Ubud to the mountains, beaches, and major towns.
Villa Teras is located 8km from Ubud in Frangipani Lane, a quiet flower filled lane positioned in the untouched village of Batuan.
Lots of Balinese say that if you want to see what Bali looked like in the old days, visit Batuan Village. The village comprises traditional Balinese compounds and natural surroundings, and you’ll be fascinated by the residents who enthusiastically embrace the traditions and rituals observed in every facet of their life: most of them work as traditional craftsmen or artists. The name ‘Batuan’ or ‘Baturan’ can be translated as ‘tough as stone’ or ‘eating rocks’, but actually it refers to an ancient megalithic tradition in which standing stones (many of which have been found in this village) served as meeting places and ceremonial sites for the worship of ancestral spirits. So, be sure to put it on your holiday outing agenda.
Nestled above the banks of the Woz river, Villa Teras is surrounded by coconut trees, bamboo groves and offers stunning views from all rooms to the terraced rice paddies across the river.
Step back to a time where the only noises are a rushing river, the rustle of palm leaves, children’s laughter and frog symphonies. Find a stillness and peace far, far from the everyday. A lush green riot of tropical plants surround the river side of the house, whilst the garden is manicured and features a beautifully designed (10m x 7m) private pool and massage bale.
A traditional entrance leads from a gated security car parking area to the pool and garden, then down a few steps to the upper level of the house. This level is fan cooled and has a full width balcony, 2 open plan living areas, dining area and guest powder room. Also on this level, for those who love to cook, there is a new, modern, Western style kitchen featuring marble, glass, wood, with Italian stainless steel appliances. Immerse yourself in the view from full length windows on 3 sides of this huge area and double glass doors leading onto the balcony where you may watch river life go on as it has for centuries.
The second level features a total of 3 bedrooms (all individually air-conditioned), which includes 2 x double bedrooms (both with king beds) and one of these rooms also has a walk in robe and ensuite. The 3rd bedroom is a twin bedded room and shares an interconnecting bathroom with the 2nd double bedroom. There is a second entrance on this level through lovely, double wooden doors, and also an outdoor courtyard with cascading water feature. There is also a small kitchenette and sitting area.
The lower level has the house kitchen, laundry and staff quarters where staff reside and are available to assist you around the clock. A car and driver are also available if required and there are many international standard restaurants in Ubud, or in the beach areas of Sanur and Seminyak. Breakfast is included in our rates and other meals can be prepared as required.
